THE LOWDOWN
ARSENAL
- Arsenal set down a marker that they are a force to be reckoned with this season when they overcame rivals Tottenham in the North London Derby last weekend, and Mikel Arteta’s men followed that up with a straightforward win in the Europa League on Thursday.
- Mohamed Elneny and Emile Smith-Rowe are the only confirmed absentees in the Gunners ranks but Oleksandr Zinchenko was absent from Thursday’s Europa League squad amid reports he hasn't trained so his availability is in doubt.
LIVERPOOL
- Things are still not quite right in the Liverpool camp with last week’s 3-3 draw with Brighton hardly the result Jurgen Klopp was looking for, although a positive result in the Champions League midweek should have lifted the mood around the the club.
- Klopp played a very attacking formation against Rangers which involved four of his forwards all in the starting line-up but the likelihood is that he returns to the more familiar 4-3-3 that has been his MO for some time now.
THE TEAM NEWS
ARSENAL
PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Ramsdale; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Tierney; Partey, Xhaka; Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli; Jesus
UNAVAILABLE: Elneny (Injured), Smith-Rowe (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Zinchenko (Unknown)
LIVERPOOL
PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Firmino, Diaz
UNAVAILABLE: Keita (Injured), Melo (Injured), Oxlade-Chamberlain (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Robertson (Injured), Jones (Injured)
THE PREDICTION
Liverpool are nowhere near where they want to be in the table right now with a distinct lack of confidence evident throughout the team, although you would imagine that Klopp would have them fired up for this fixture against an increasingly impressive Arsenal side. The last four Premier League meetings between the two sides have all be won by Liverpool, and with an aggregate score of 12-1 to boot, but this contest is unlikely to be one-sided given their respective form. The hosts are firing on all cylinders at the moment, but Liverpool – despite their troubles – have the potential and ability to turn it on at any point so both teams scoring has a good chance here.
TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
