THE LOWDOWN
OH LEUVEN
Oud-Heverlee Leuven rescued a point late on in their opening match of the 2023/24 Jupiler Pro League campaign. The home team were 1-0 down to Sporting Charleroi but the hosts had a man sent off early on and Leuven managed to capitalise with an 85th minute penalty scored by Leicester loanee Nathan Opoku. The visitors finished last season firmly in mid-table but ended the campaign with three successive victories so, under the management of Marc Brys, will be toying with the idea of challenging for the top eight.
RWDM
Racing White Daring Molenbeek were promoted to the top-flight as Challenger Pro League champions last season. Claudio Capaca was appointed over the summer in his first role as a first-team manager by owner John Textor, who also owns or holds major shareholdings in Crystal Palace, Lyon and current Brazilian Serie A league leaders Botafogo. Despite coming into the season with some buoyancy and optimism, RWDM were hammered 4-0 by a strong and efficient Genk side last weekend on the opening day.
THE PREDICTED LINE-UPS
OH LEUVEN
Marc Brys’ Leuven are set to play a 4-3-3 system and there are no injuries or suspensions so it is expected to be an unchanged side for the hosts.
PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Cojocaru; Sagrado, Pletinckx, Ricca, Mendyl; Banzuzi, Schrijvers, Holzhauser; Vlietinck, Opoku, Porsteinsson

RWDM
Newly-promoted RWDM played a back five under the management of Capaca last week and, despite their thrashing, are likely to persist with that.
PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Defourny; Heris, Klaus, Le Joncour; El Ouahdi, De Sart, Gece, Abner; Dailly, Biron, Mercier

THE PREDICTION
Despite a fairly disappointing and frustrating performance away to ten-man Charleroi last week, Leuven will be quite content to have started their campaign with a relatively respectable draw away from home. RWD Molenbeek are expected to grow into the season but after a 4-0 loss last week they will be bracing themselves for a really tough test in this one. Especially given their home advantage, Leuven are the firm favourites for this one.
TIP: LEUVEN TO WIN
