THE LOWDOWN

KORTRIJK

It has been an extremely difficult season for Kortrijk in the Jupiler Pro League this season but that continued even into the cup, too, with the hosts suffering a 1-0 loss at home to Racing White Daring Molenbeek in their most recent outing, in midweek, in the Last 16 of the Belgian Cup. Pressure is already growing on Glen De Boeck.

De Boeck was only appointed as recently as October, replacing Edward Still, but despite a slight improvement in performances, Kortrijk’s results have remained poor as they sit rock-bottom in the league table. They have managed just two victories in their 16 matches so far this season with just 11 goals scored in that time, too.

WESTERLO

Under the management of Jonas De Roeck, Westerlo are having a bit of ‘second season syndrome’ after their impressive campaign last year, in which they finished in the top eight, following promotion last season. They have remained consistent in their entertainment, though, with 53 goals in their 16 matches so far.

Their most recent outing saw them defeated by three goals to one at home to title challenging Anderlecht, last weekend. Two of their last nine matches have finished with both teams scoring across all competitions. Those nine matches have seen a slight improvement in their form as well as a combined total of 34 goals.

THE TEAM NEWS

KORTRIJK

Kortrijk have no definite absentees for this weekend’s visit of Westerlo but they could be without the likes of Thierry Ambrose and Youssef Challouk, who are injury doubts.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Vandenberghe; Mampassi, Silva, Kana; Alebiosu, Malinov, Kadri, De Neve; Ojo, Bruno; Davies

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE: Ambrose (Injured), Challouk (Injured)

WESTERLO

Jonas De Roeck is missing a couple of key men, such as Mathias Fixelles and Ravil Tagir, whilst the likes of Nacer Chadli and Ilias El Hari remain doubts.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Bolat; Reynolds, Bayram, Haidara, Bos; Sydorchuk, Piedfort; Yow, Madsen, Matsuo; Frigan

UNAVAILABLE: Fixelles (Injured), Tagir (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Van Eenoo (Injured), Alcocer (Injured), Chadli (Injured), El Hari (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

These are two strugglers down at the bottom in second-bottom and rock-bottom in the Jupiler Pro League table. The two teams have managed just two victories apiece but there has been a major difference in terms of their style of football. Westerlo have scored 21 goals, ten more than Kortrijk – no team other than Kortrijk have scored fewer than 16 this season and Kortrijk have managed just 11. Westerlo are favourites for this one with a double chance bet in their favour looks the way to go for this one against a Kortrijk side that are now winless in their last seven matches inside 90 minutes across all competitions.

BETTING TIP: DOUBLE CHANCE – WESTERLO TO WIN OR DRAW
