THE LOWDOWN

KORTRIJK

Under the management of Glen De Boeck, who was appointed in October following the dismissal of Edward Still, Kortrijk are suffering quite badly down at the very bottom of the Jupiler Pro League table. The home team have managed just two wins in their opening 14 matches and are rock-bottom.

They have also scored the fewest goals in the entire division, notching just ten so far, and they have let in 29 – only Eupen have conceded more than that. ‘The Guys’, as they are nicknamed, come into this on the back of a 3-0 hammering at the hands of league leaders Royale Union Saint-Gilloise a couple of weeks ago.

MECHELEN

Besnik Hasi, who replaced Steven Defour earlier this season, begin the weekend sitting just outside of the bottom four and the end of season relegation round playoff places. They picked up four points in their last two matches before the international break with just 13 goals scored in their opening 14 matches, with only Kortrijk scoring fewer.

They have been one of the least entertaining teams in the Jupiler Pro League with 29 goals coming in their 14 games so far this season. They have managed just four victories throughout the campaign and are, as they were expected before the season, anticipating a battle against the drop for the rest of this season

THE TEAM NEWS

KORTRIJK

Kortrijk have no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues for the visit of Mechelen this weekend so they could name an unchanged eleven.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Vandenberghe; Mampassi, Silva, Kana; El Idrissy, Kadri, Mehssatou, De Neve; Henen, Mighten; Ojo

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE: Alebiosu (Injured), Radovanovic (Injured), Ambrose (Injured), Challouk (Injured)

MECHELEN

Mechelen have a few injury concerns but only one man, Niklas Storm, is unavailable for this weekend as they travel to Kortrijk.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Coucke; Walsh, Bates, Cobbaut, Foulon; Konate, Vanlerberghe; Hairemans, Schoofs, MrabtI; Bassette

UNAVAILABLE: Storm (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Belghali (Injured), Van Hof (Injured), Falchou (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

These two strugglers have been poor throughout the campaign – as they were for much of last season and the reduction in the league from 18 to 16 teams was always going to be a concern. Another thing that the sides have in common is an almost relentless devotion to underwhelming attacking football, combining for just 23 goals so far this season and another low-scoring, low quality affair is to be expected on Sunday evening.

BETTING TIP: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
