THE LOWDOWN

ANTWERP

Under the management of Mark van Bommel, defending Belgian champions Royal Antwerp come into this one on the back of a narrow 1-0 loss to Shakhtar Donetsk in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League. They have lost five out of five in that competition, combing poor European form with a difficult defence of the Belgian title.

They do begin this weekend sitting tucked back inside the top six and end of season championship round playoffs but have relied on an improvement in their form of late. They have collected seven points from their last three matches after an extremely poor start to their autumn which saw them outside of the top six for much of this campaign.

OH LEUVEN

Oud-Heverlee Leuven were beaten by a goal to nil by Club Brugge in their most recent outing, last weekend, following on from the November international break. The visitors are languishing down towards the very bottom end of the Jupiler Pro League table as they sit inside the bottom four and the relegation round playoff places.

Owned by King Power, OH Leuven sacked their long-term manager, Marc Brys, last month and replaced him with former Watford boss, Oscar Garcia. Their results and performances have not improved, though, as they have now suffered four successive defeats as they travel to the home of the champions.

THE TEAM NEWS

ANTWERP

Jacob Ondrejka, Sam Vines and Bjorn Engels are doubts for this weekend, whilst Ritchie De Laet and Anthony Valencia remain unavailable due to injury.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Butez; Bataille, Alderweireld, Coulibaly, Wijndal; Vermeeren, Yusuf; Muja, Ekkelenkamp, Balikwisha; Janssen

UNAVAILABLE: De Laet (Injured), Valencia (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Ondrejka (Injured), Vines (Injured), Engels (Injured)

OH LEUVEN

There are no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues for this weekend with OH Leuven able to name an unchanged eleven for this weekend.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Leysen; Schingtienne, Pletinckx, Miguel; Sagrado, Schrijvers, Maziz, Misao, Mendyl; Opoku, Porsteinsson

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE: Ricca (Injured), Calut (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Defending champions Antwerp have not enjoyed this season so far, both domestically and on the continent, but they will be confident they are now steadying the ship quite well and moving themselves back up the table where they plan to remain. OH Leuven are expected to improve gradually as Oscar Garcia’s methods take hold but the Spaniard is coming under pressure and a comfortable Antwerp victory is to be expected for this one, especially with their home advantage.
