FPL Gameweek 9 – head-to-head comparisons: Raheem Sterling vs Riyad Mahrez

The choice between Raheem Sterling (£12.1m) and Riyad Mahrez (£8.7m) really depends upon who offers the greatest value for money. As it stands, Sterling costs £3.4m more than Mahrez to acquire his services.

Given Mahrez has only scored two fewer points than the Englishman over the opening eight gameweeks, he offers by far the greater value. Sterling's total is also skewed from the 20 points he scored in GW1. Although generally considered a safer bet in terms of starts, it is interesting to note than Sterling has actually played one fewer time than Mahrez this season, though three of the Algerian's appearances have come from the bench. Still, with the uncertainly surrounding Bernardo Silva's (£7.9m) availability, Mahrez could be set for a run in the side.
