Michael van Gerwen and Dimitri Van den Bergh meet for a second week in succession after MVG won their semi-final in Belfast courtesy of a 106.00 average, although Van den Bergh – despite averaging almost 15 points less than the Dutchman in that contest – wasn’t far behind in a 6-4 defeat. Van Gerwen went on to lose the final to debutant Chris Dobey, but that will only serve to increase his hunger to perform in Cardiff. Although Van den Bergh looks in decent form himself, there will be no stopping Van Gerwen should he find his top gear, and the six-time champion is likely to be the victor here once more.
