Jonathan Kunneman: Kunneman looks to add a new chapter to what is already an inspiring story
Poised to make his Contender Series debut after being bounced from the previous season with an injury, Jon Kunneman (10-0) puts his undefeated record on the line in hopes of earning a UFC contract and become the first fighter in the promotion’s history with Type 1 diabetes; why do I sound like Jon Anik right now? “AK-47” is a prolific finisher with a 100% stoppage rate; nine of those have come in the very first round. While he does have some finishes on the feet, Kunneman is primarily a grappler; he has excellent trips and does his best work when he’s able to secure position over a grounded opponent to hammer away with GNP or lock up a submission.
Joseph Kropschot: Can the LFA veteran score the upset and earn his biggest win to date?
Currently riding a four fight win streak, former LFA middleweight champion, Joseph Kropschot (8-3) gets his shot at the big leagues following three submission victories in a row. Also boasting a 100% finishing rate in victory, “The Land Animal" is a big middleweight at 6’3”, using his enormous frame to outmuscle his opponents on the mat. Turning professional after an undefeated amateur career, the 31 year old American has competed in combat jiu-jitsu outside of MMA and has already faced a current UFC fighter on the regional circuit, losing to Cody Brundage by third round submission back in 2021.
Jonathan Kunneman vs Joseph Kropschot prediction
Kunneman looks to be a justifiable favorite here; he’s an up and coming young prospect with a shiny undefeated record and a 100% finish rate. However, it’s not out of the realms of possibility that Kropschot can spring the upset here.
“The Land Animal” is massive for the weight class and has a significant edge in height and reach. He’s a prolific finisher in his own right and has just won a title for a well regarded promotion in LFA, defeating another undefeated prospect in the process. Outside of a win over Matt Friesen in Anthony Pettis FC, Kunneman’s resume falls off a cliff.
With that being said, we’re still riding with “AK-47” here. Splitting his time between Jackson Wink MMA and Elevation Fight Team, Kunneman has a lot of great minds behind him and potential to grow even further considering he’s only 27. He also has the mentality and confidence of an undefeated fighter with an inspiring backstory.
Kropschot has been finished in all three of his losses; it’s not too much of a stretch to see Kunneman earning a stoppage over him here. “AK-47” finds a finish in the early goings to become the first fighter in the UFC with Type 1 diabetes.
Prediction: Jonathan Kunneman to win by finish
