THE TEAM NEWS
YORKSHIRE VIKINGS
- Yorkshire suffered another washout without a ball being bowled and they now sit with just one win from their five matches with this game against Worcestershire shaping to be pivotal in their quest to make the knockout stages.
- A win for the Vikings would put them level on points with the Rapids and really tighten things up at the top of the North Group and will hope to have World Cup winner Adil Rashid in their side if he can overcome a shoulder complaint.
- Fellow leg-spinner Josh Poysden and slow left-armer James Logan have been ruled out for the season with a fractured skull and stress fracture of the back respectively but club captain Steve Patterson could come back into the side after a period of rest.
WORCESTERSHIRE RAPIDS
- Worcestershire earned a narrow victory over Derbyshire to make it back-to-back wins in the North Group but they were made to sweat as they chased down the 157 they were set to win.
- The Rapids looked to be coasting to victory at 142/4 but lost four quick wickets and had it not been for an unbeaten knock of 81 off just 46 balls from Wayne Parnell, they may not have reached their total.
- Callum Ferguson will take over the reigns as captain for this contest after Brett D’Oliveira was ruled out because of a small fracture to his thumb with George Rhodes coming into the squad to replace D’Oliveira and will fight it out with Tom Fell and Charlie Morris for a place in the side.
THE PREDICTION
This is a big game for both teams but with the loss of their captain Brett D’Oliveira for what is likely to be an extended period, Worcestershire will have to show some resilience to get by in his absence. Yorkshire will fancy their chances of taking advantage of that blow, especially if Adil Rashid can prove his fitness in time. A raucous Headingley crowd will be fully behind their side and they can witness an important win.
