THE TEAM NEWS

LAHORE QALANDARS

  • It has been yet another bleak start to a PSL campaign for Lahore Qalandars as they sit rock-bottom of the ladder having lost all three matches played so far but they will take a few positives from the rain-reduced match against Peshawar Zalmi last time out despite defeat.
  • Chris Lynn finally got some runs under his belt as he smashed 30 from 15 balls while Samit Patel also whacked 34 from 15, while David Wiese and Dilbar Hussain bowled well in that game also.
  • The biggest concern is over key Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman who looks woefully out of form and desperately needs a good knock, while Dane Vilas is coming under pressure after scoring just 24 from his three innings so far as they desperately need more of their batsmen to find some form.

QUETTA GLADIATORS

  • After two wins in a row, Quetta Gladiators slipped to defeat last time out as they came unstuck against Multan Sultans who posted an unassailable 199/5 thanks to Rilee Rossouw’s stunning century from just 43 balls.
  • The real positive from that defeat was the 41-ball 80 from Shane Watson as yet another of their batsmen has found some form and their batting continues to look formidable right now with Roy, Azam Khan, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Watson looking good.
  • The bowling attack is looking particularly sharp despite going for 199 last time out as Mills, Hasnain, Naseem Shah, Sohail Khan and Ben Cutting are all taking wickets and that is giving this Gladiators team an excellent balanced feel about them right now.

THE PREDICTION

Lahore Qalandars already have that resigned look about them after just three matches as the wooden spoon looks highly probable yet again. There have been some positives in their play but they just seem unable to piece together a complete performance with seven or eight players producing something close to their best. They come up against a Quetta Gladiators side that is arguably one of the strongest all-round teams in the tournament, and they have to be favoured to get the win here.
