THE TEAM NEWS
BANGLADESH
- Bangladesh suffered defeat in their opening T20 World Cup match against Scotland and now face an uphill task to remain in the tournament with this game against Oman shaping as a pivotal clash.
- The Tigers fell six runs short with their scoring rate proving to be not good enough but ultimately, they will know it was their efforts with the ball that cost them the win having failed to capitalise on restricting the Scots to 53/6.
OMAN
- Oman produced a brilliant display to brush Papua New Guinea aside in their opening T20 World Cup clash and that ten-wicket success will give them plenty of confidence ahead of this contest with Bangladesh.
- Having limited PNG to 129/9, Oman responded without losing a wicket as Jatinder Singh and Aqib Ilyas combining for 131 and they will feel they have the quality with both bat and ball to pose Bangladesh some issues here.
THE PREDICTION
This has turned into a must-win game for Bangladesh after they
suffered a shock loss to Scotland in their T20 World Cup opener. The
pressure is now on and it will be intriguing to see how they handle it
against a buoyant Oman side that come into this on the back of an
outstanding win over Papua New Guinea. Oman made light work of their
opponents, largely because of their efforts with the bat and will be
full of confidence on the back of that. Bangladesh should win but it
should be a very close game and Oman should be able to post over 120
runs if they are put into bat first with them setting the Tigers a
tricky total to surpass.
