India successfully wrapped up this five-match series by taking a 3-1 lead on Friday ahead of this final match. Batting first in Nagpur, they set Australia a target of 174/9, which they defended fairly comfortably in the end, winning by 20 runs. Axar Patel’s spin made a huge difference as he took three wickets for the loss of just 16 runs as the hosts strangled the Australian batting line-up.

Australia are playing purely for pride in this final T20i after losing the fourth game. Chasing 175 to win, no Australian player went on to play a match-defining innings, the top-scorer being Matthew Wade with 36 not out. Glenn Maxwell’s absence was clearly a big miss on that front when taking into account his heroics that won the third T20i.

Now that the series is effectively over as a contest, Australia may find things hard in terms of motivation with them unable to salvage things. India however, will be determined to put on a show playing at the famous M Chinnaswamy Stadium and performance levels are expected to be high within their side.
