THE LOWDOWN

INDIA

India must have thought going into the final over of the third T20i that they were all set to secure a series with victory with two games to play. Alas, Glenn Maxwell had other ideas and an astonishing display of clutch hitting saw India snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, the hosts failing to defend a score of 222/3. The result was extremely harsh on Ruturaj Gaikwad, who had smoked 123 not out earlier in the game.

AUSTRALIA

We’re running out of superlatives to describe Glenn Maxwell at this point. The all-rounder produced another mind-blowing innings to keep Australia in this series. He hit 104 not out from just 48 balls, the joint-fastest in Australian T20 history including 18 runs from the final four balls of the match to complete a successful run chase of 223 with five wickets remaining. The result means Australia can still win the series with victory here and in the final T20i.

THE PREDICTION

Such an incredible run chase could well prove a game-changer over the course of this series and give Australia to push they need to drag themselves back into the contest. Expect another high-scoring game in a series that has so far been dominated by the batters. But it’s well worth considering back Australia to draw the series level with India possibly still stung by what happened on Tuesday.

BETTING TIP: AUSTRALIA TO WIN
