THE PREDICTION
Although Afghanistan may have won two of their three Group D fixtures, whilst Sri Lanka went three from three in Group C, writing off Suliman Safi’s side entirely isn’t a smart move. Afghanistan boasts a strong bowling unit in particular, who like Sri Lanka have taken 29 wickets from 30 so far in the competition, including bowling Papua New Guinea out for just 65 whilst the batters have managed a score of at least 200 across their three innings. However, Afghanistan came up short against Pakistan in what was by far their sternest Group C challenge. Sri Lanka represent a similar level of challenge and against a team who already have wins against West Indies and Australia under the belts, the expectation is that they may just fall short once again, so back Sri Lanka to edge what should prove a close encounter.
