DUSAN LAJOVIC
- 30th seed Dusan Lajovic has had an easy time of it so far at Roland-Garros after two straight-sets wins over Thiago Monteiro and Elliot Benchetrit.
- The 28-year-old is also finding some success in the doubles with fellow Serb Janko Tipsarevic as they are through to the round of 16 but this does bring fatigue into question for this match.
- Lajovic will now face Alexander Zverev in the third round of Roland-Garros which is one better than the pair managed last year after the German beat him in five sets in the second round in their only previous meeting.
ALEXANDER ZVEREV
- Alexander Zverev put aside the trials and tribulations of his first-round five-set epic with John Millman to beat Sweden’s Mikael Ymer in straight sets.
- The German star had a difficult clay-court season, with early exits in both Barcelona and Madrid, until last week when he won the Geneva Open.
- 22-year-old Zverev is in search of his first Grand Slam semi-final at the tournament where he has achieved his highest stage to date - in a quarter-final loss to Dominic Thiem last year.
THE PREDICTION
A five-set match shared between these players last year was the first of three Alexander Zverev played out on his way to the quarter-final stage of Roland-Garros, and the German will be determined to out-reach his main rivals in this new generation, namely Dominic Thiem and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Dusan Lajovic has what it takes to trouble Sascha Zverev somewhat but it looks unlikely that he can match his round of 16 milestone from 2014.
