Wolfsburg are a big and financially well backed club in the Bundesliga but they are in real danger as they face Hamburg at the Volkswagen Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Wolfsburg preview: Struggling Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg begin this weekend's round of fixtures sitting in the bottom two and the automatic relegation places in the Bundesliga after a genuinely woeful run of form, despite boasting a seemingly reasonably strong squad.

Their most recent outing, a 4-0 demolition at the hands of top four chasing Stuttgart last weekend, means that they have collected just two points from their last seven matches.

Hamburg preview: Steady Hamburg

Hamburg, in contrast, have performed admirably following their long-awaited promotion back to the top-flight last season. They sit firmly in the middle-of-the-table with ten matches of the campaign to go.

The visitors have hit a slight bump in the road in the last week or so, backing up a 2-1 defeat against RB Leipzig last weekend with a 1-0 loss at home to Bayer Leverkusen in midweek.

Wolfsburg team news: Loads of injuries

Wolfsburg are potentially without Maximilian Arnold and Mattias Svanberg, while the likes of Kevin Paredes, Kilian Fischer and Patrick Wimmer have been sidelined in the last month or so.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Grabara; Kumbedi, Koulierakis, Jenz, Belocian; Eriksen, Gerhardt; Daghim, Majer, Hensel; Amoura

Unavailable: Cleiton (Injured), Seelt (Injured), Fischer (Injured), Maehle (Injured), Dardai (Injured), Wimmer (Injured), Wind (Injured), Paredes (Injured)

Questionable: Arnold (Injured), Svanberg (Injured)

Hamburg team news: A few injuries

Albert Gronbaek and Philip Otele are doubtful for Hamburg, while Nicolas Capaldo, Alexander Rossing-Lelesiit and Bakery Jatta are confirmed absentees for the visitors.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Fernandes; Omari, Vuskovic, Torunarigha; Mikelbrencis, Vieira, Remberg, Muheim; Konigsdorffer, Downs, Poulsen

Unavailable: Capaldo (Injured), Rossing-Lelesiit (Injured), Jatta (Injured)

Questionable: Gronbaek (Injured), Otele (Injured)

Wolfsburg vs Hamburg prediction

Those two aforementioned losses for Hamburg did come against two of the stronger sides in the league and so are forgivable. Up against a hapless Wolfsburg in disarray, and one not yet ready to make a managerial change, is a different proposition for a steady visiting side. It may not be a rout or overly convincing but backing Hamburg is the way to go for this one.

Wolfsburg vs Hamburg tip: Double chance – Hamburg to win or draw
