Wolfsburg are finding themselves in a bit of danger as they now welcome an impressive but always inconsistent Borussia Dortmund side to the Volkswagen Arena.

Wolfsburg preview: Struggling Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg are hovering just above the bottom three and the relegation places in the Bundesliga, with the Bavarians beginning this match day sitting just one point clear after a recent woeful run of form in the German top-flight.

The hosts most recently succumbed to back-to-back defeats against Mainz and then Cologne. That means Wolfsburg have now managed just one victory in their last six matches, beginning the calendar year with an 8-1 loss to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

Borussia Dortmund preview: Kovac & Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund come into this one on the back of an entertaining and topsy turvy, thrilling 3-2 victory over Heidenheim at the Westfalenstadion. That has helped them close the gap to just six points on the ever so slightly wobbling Bayern Munich.

Dortmund have been excellent ever since the appointment of former Bayern boss Niko Kovac around about this time last year. The Yellow-Blacks did finish the league phase of the UEFA Champions League in late-January.

Wolfsburg team news: Jenz suspended

Wolfsburg defender Moritz Jenz is missing through suspension for this week and they also have some key doubts, too, such as Joakim Maehle and attacking duo Jonas Wind and Mohamed Amoura.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Grabara; Fischer, Vavro, Zehtner, Gerhardt; Vinicius Souza, Arnold; Eriksen, Majer, Wimmer; Pejcinovic

Unavailable: Cleiton (Injured), Seelt (Injured), Jenz (Suspended), Rogerio (Injured), Dardai (Injured)

Questionable: Maehle (Injured), Wind (Injured), Amoura (Injured)

Borussia Dortmund team news: Illness issues

Borussia Dortmund are dealing with a couple of illness issues ahead of this one as young defender Filippo Mane may be sidelined alongside experienced utility man Emre Can.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Kobel; Sule, Anton, Schlotterbeck; Couto, Bellingham, Nmecha, Svensson; Adeyemi, Guirassy, Brandt

Unavailable:

Questionable: Mane (Illness), Can (Illness), Sabitzer (Injured)

Wolfsburg vs Borussia Dortmund prediction

Wolfsburg come into this one on the back of some poor form and in desperate need of putting in a performance and a result. Fortunately for the hosts, they do welcome a Borussia Dortmund side that are often very open to giving pretty much any team a chance, as was the case against Heidenheim last week. Dortmund are favourites for another game that should again be entertaining to watch this weekend.
