Wolfsburg Preview: Aiming to make it five unbeaten

Wolfsburg are slowly creeping along, staying in the hunt and hoping to make a late run for the European spots in the Bundesliga. After a run of three consecutive draws, the hosts were victorious last time out after beating Stuttgart on the road by two goals to one, a statement victory. But it won’t mean much if they can’t follow that up here.

Bochum Preview: Great escape or false dawn

Little gave Bochum a chance against Borussia Dortmund despite the latter’s Bundesliga struggles this season. However, the relegation battlers pulled up a huge upset with a 2-0 win, thrilling their home fans and bringing new life to their fight for survival. The victory lifted them off the bottom of the table, a huge psychological boost.

Wolfsburg Team News: Changes at full-back likely

After missing the win over Stuttgart through suspension, Joakim Maehle is expected to return for the home side at left-back, whilst January loan signing Mads Roerslev could come into the starting line-up on the opposite side. Patrick Wimmer and Andreas Skov Olsen are battling for a spot on the left-wing.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Muller; Roerslev, Vavro, Koulierakis, Maehle; Tomas, Svanberg, Vranckx, Skov Olsen; Wind, Amoura

Unavailable: Arnold (Injured), Bialek (Injured), Fischer (Suspended), Grabara (Injured), Majer (Injured), Nmecha (Injured), Paredes (Injured), Rogerio (Injured)

Bochum Team News: Two missing through injury

An eye problem is set to sideline right-back Felix Passlack from this encounter, whilst Bochum are also expected to be without striker Myron Boadu. The Monaco loanee is currently nursing a muscle injury.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Horn; Masovic, Ordets, Bernardo; Gamboa, Bero, Sissoko, Krauss, Wittek; Masouras, Hofmann

Unavailable: Boadu (Injured), Passlack (Injured)

Wolfsburg vs Bochum Prediction

To have taken the scalp of Borussia Dortmund will have injected Bochum with a huge dose of confidence, but to follow it up with just as tough a task, especially away to a team such as Wolfsburg, a solid outfit who are currently enjoying an unbeaten streak. Key for Bochum will be their backline and whether they can replicate their performance levels shown last weekend.

Expect the visitors to dig in and make themselves as hard as possible to break down, which could frustrate the hosts if they don’t score early. This could lead to a low-scoring encounter in the end, so backing under 2.5 goals scored warrants serious consideration.

Wolfsburg vs Bochum Tip: Under 2.5 goals
