Both these two clubs have made good starts to the season in both league and cup. Wigan Athletic boast seven points from a possible 12 and defeated Notts County in the first round of the League Cup, whilst Stockport County progressed past Crewe and currently sit inside the play-off places in League One, having won three of five games.
The schedule for third tier clubs has been a tough one in August with this set to be Wigan and Stockport’s third fixture in the space of just ten days. This is where Stockport’s superior depth within their squad may just give the visitors an edge over Wigan, despite Latics having home advantage. With that in mind, back Dave Challinor’s side to qualify for the third round.
