Who has scored the most Premier League hat-tricks for Newcastle Utd?

For years one of the most entertaining teams in Premier League history, plenty of big-name Premier League players have donned the black and white stripes of Newcastle United and written themselves into the Magpies’ history books. Names such as Peter Beardsley, who scored the first ever Premier League hat-trick for Newcastle back on October 30th 1993.

The mid-90s was an exciting time to be a Newcastle fan as they fought for titles under Kevin Keegan. This period saw them rack up a healthy number of Premier League hat-tricks, scored by the likes of Andy Cole and Les Ferdinand. Cole is one of three Newcastle players with two Premier League hat-tricks to his name, the first coming in a memorable 3-0 win over Liverpool in November 1993, less than a month after Beardsley had scored three.

The most well-known Newcastle goalscorer of all-time has to be former England international Alan Shearer. Currently the Premier League's record goalscorer, it's perhaps a surprise that Shearer only scored two Premier League hat-tricks for his boyhood club, especially when considering that Shearer registered 148 Premier League goals in total for the Magpies.

Both of Shearer's hat-tricks came in the 90s at St. James' Park, his first on February 2nd 1997 against Leicester in a thrilling 4-3 win for Newcastle. His second on September 19th 1999 vs Sheffield Wednesday saw him end the game with five goals, the most scored by any Newcastle player in a single Premier League fixture.
