Western United vs Adelaide United prediction

Western United have been inconsistent this season but they finished off their regular season with back-to-back victories. They backed up a 1-0 defeat of Sydney by defeating league winners Auckland by four goals to two at Ironbark Fields last weekend thanks to goals from Michael Ruhs, Noah Botic, Angus Thurgate and Oliver Lavale.

They now face an Adelaide United side that were the closest challengers to Auckland for much of the campaign but the South Australians have endured a difficult run of form in the last few months. They finished the season with back-to-back draws to mean they have now managed just one victory in their last 11 matches in the A League.

Western United will be expected to come out on top in this A League elimination playoff, especially with home advantage against a team that have been struggling for a while.
