Two teams that have found wins hard to come by of late face off as Werder Bremen meet Borussia Monchengladbach.

Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV: UK – Not televised / US – ESPN

How to watch online: UK – Not televised / US – ESPN+

Werder Bremen preview: Treading water

Werder Bremen now find themselves one place above the bottom three following a terrible run of form which has seen them pick up just one point over the course of their last four Bundesliga games. That’s one point from a possible 12 with nine goals conceded in that period. Their three most recent defeats have seen them fail to score.

Whether Werder can spark a revival here against another side struggling for form and momentum remains to be seen, but we’ll need to see a significantly better showing that what we’ve been accustomed to from the hosts in recent weeks.

Borussia Monchengladbach preview: Completely outclassed

Borussia Monchengladbach came into their last game against Stuttgart having picked up a point from their previous two games, losing 5-1 away at Hoffenheim before drawing 0-0 with Hamburg in a dour encounter. Stuttgart though, made mincemeat of Gladbach, dispatching them by three goals to nil.

With only five points between them and the bottom three, the hosts can’t afford to spiral and go on an extended winless run, especially with their opponents here just two points behind them in the table as it stands.

Werder Bremen team news: Several out

Concussion could see Schmidt join a lengthy list of absentees for Werder Bremen, whilst Bittencourt faces a late fitness test for the hosts.

Predicted XI: (3-5-2): Backhaus; Malatini, Friedl, Coulibaly; Sugawara, Schmid, Lynen, Stage, Deman; Njinmah, Grull

Unavailable: Agu (Injured), Boniface (Injured), Pieper (Injured), Stark (Injured), Weiser (Injured), Wober (Injured)

Questionable: Bittencourt (Injured), Schmidt (Injured)

Borussia Monchengladbach team news: Five injured

Borussia Monchengladbach are expected to be without five players, including Robin Hack and Tim Kleindienst once again, both of whom remain injured.

Predicted XI: (3-4-3): Nicolas; Takai, Sander, Elvedi; Scally, Reitz, Sander, Netz; Honorat, Tabakovic, Neuhaus

Unavailable: Diks (Injured), Hack (Injured), Kleindienst (Injured), Ngoumou (Injured), Reyna (Injured)

Questionable:

Werder Bremen vs Borussia Monchengladbach prediction

This is a battle between two clubs going through a tough time right now in the league, with results reflecting their respective poor performances. Confidence will likely be low among the two sets of players and neither have managed to gain any momentum as of late. The signs are that we could be in for a turgid affair.

The lack of quality between the two teams may well restrict the number of clear chances we see and when they do come along, it would be no surprise to see them wasted by both sides. Therefore, it’s worth backing under 3.5 goals to be scored between Werder Bremen and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Werder Bremen vs Borussia Monchengladbach tip: Under 2.5 goals
