Watford are, surprisingly, embarking upon a bit of a promotion push as the Hornets welcome a frustrated Birmingham City side to Vicarage Road on New Year’s Day.

Watford vs Birmingham prediction

Following the re-appointment of Javi Gracia, Watford have been improved in recent months as they sit tucked inside the top six and the playoff places. The Hornets have now enjoyed three successive victories, having beaten Norwich City by a goal to nil at Carrow Road the other day, via a late Vivaldo Semedo winner.

Birmingham City come into this one on the back of a frustrating 1-1 draw with Southampton at St Andrew’s in the second-city on Monday evening. Chris Davies’ Blues, who are a big spending and ambitious outfit, are in the bottom-half and winless in their last six matches.

Birmingham are in a very underwhelming position at the moment and so, siding with home advantage too, Watford would have to be viewed as favourites for this one.
