Walsall vs Chesterfield prediction

Walsall got the better of Chesterfield in that playoff semi-final, but that was after the Saddlers had given up what should have been an unassailable lead at the top-of-the-table in mid-January. Their collapse has seen a complete transformation of the squad over the summer, with Mat Sadler trusted to get things back on track.

Having got Chesterfield back into the EFL in the 2023/24 season, Paul Cook then led the Spireites to a seventh placed finish last season, with the expectation being for them to kick on and challenge for automatic promotion this time around. They have started well, too, with four victories and a draw in their opening six matches.

Chesterfield will head to the Bescot looking to get revenge for last season, but the hosts do appear to be rediscovering their winning groove, and so this should break out into an excellent watch for the neutral in the midlands this weekend.
