In their opening league phase encounter in this season’s UEFA Europa League, Viktoria Plzen were denied all three points in a dramatic encounter in Budapest. Viktoria took the lead in Hungary before Ferencvaros then had a man sent off in the 37th minute, but Ferencvaros then managed to pinch a point in second-half stoppage-time.
They now face a Malmo side that have underwhelmed domestically this year as they drift into the middle of the Allsvenskan table. They also drifted out of the UEFA Champions League and started their UEFA Europa League league phase campaign with a 2-1 defeat at home to Ludogorets Razgrad a couple of weeks ago.
That performance and result against the Bulgarians was typical of their season for Malmo, and Viktoria Plzen have to remain favourites with their home advantage.
