Venezia Preview: Venezia’s strugglers

Venezia come into this one on the back of a steady run of form but they remain firmly in the bottom three and the relegation places with just three victories in their 28 matches so far this season as they begin the weekend sitting five points adrift of safety.

Venezia enjoyed back-to-back goalless draws against Lazio and Atalanta before then rescuing a point against Como by Lake Como last weekend thanks to a 95th minute equalising penalty scored by striker Christian Gytkjaer.

Napoli Preview: Napoli ticking along

Antonio Conte’s Napoli begin the 29th match day of the 2024/25 Serie A campaign sitting just one point behind defending champions and league leaders Internazionale. The Neapolitans did recently endure a four-match winless run of form but earned a much-needed win last week.

The visitors managed to defeat Fiorentina by two goals to one at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in their most recent outing last weekend with goals from Romelu Lukaku and Giacomo Raspadori re-establishing their title race.

Venezia Team News: Yeboah suspended

Venezia will be without attacker John Yeboah due to suspension ahead of the visit of title challenging Napoli. They also have a few injury issues, too, such as the likes of Michael Svoboda and Domen Crnigoj are sidelined for the hosts.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Radu; Schingtienne, Idzes, Cande; Zerbin, Duncan, Caviglia, Kike Perez, Ellertsson; Oristanio, Maric

Unavailable: Stankovic (Injured), Svoboda (Injured), Crnigoj (Injured), Yeboah (Suspended)

Questionable: Sverko (Injured), Sagrado (Injured)

Napoli Team News: A few doubts

Napoli are dealing with a few doubts as they make the trip to Venice this weekend with former Ajax winger David Neres still dealing with an issue alongside both Pasquale Mazzocchi and Cameroon international midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Buongiorno; Politano, Gilmour, Lobotka, McTominay, Spinazzola; Lukaku, Raspadori

Unavailable:

Questionable: Mazzocchi (Injured), Anguissa (Injured), David Neres (Injured)

Venezia vs Napoli Prediction

Venezia come into this one having steadied the ship a fair bit as Di Francesco tries to deploy a more cautious approach, having often been heavily criticised for his naïve style of attacking football, but they remain set for relegation. That low-scoring approach may well suit Napoli as the visitors prefer their games to be controlled and played on a knife edge, expecting to eventually create an opportunity to take all three points.

Venezia vs Napoli Tip: Napoli to win & under 3.5 goals
