Venezia Preview: Solid Venezia
Venezia have begun to become more defensive in the last few months and they have been able to put in some impressive performance. Eusebio Di Francesco did the same with Frosinone last season but it was too late in the end as they were still relegated from Serie A.
The Venetians now come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Torino at Olimpico di Torino in Piedmont last weekend in a game in which Venezia took a 37th minute lead via Kike Perez before Nikola Vlasic scored an equalising penalty for Torino in the 77th minute.
Fiorentina Preview: UECL heartache
Vincenzo Italiano led Fiorentina to the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League in each of the last two seasons and, despite the departure of the now Bologna boss, Raffaele Palladino kept up their good record in that competition but it has now come to an end.
Back-to-back final appearances has been followed by semi-final elimination. They defeated Real Betis by two goals to one inside 90 minutes in midweek but eventually conceded in extra-time to lose to the Andalusians by four goals to three on aggregate.
Venezia Team News: Kike Perez a doubt
Kike Perez, who scored last weekend having joined the club during the winter transfer window, is unavailable for this weekend’s visit of Fiorentina due to a head injury. They have some key absentees such as Michael Svoboda and Domen Crnigoj.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Radu; Schingtienne, Idzes, Cande; Zerbin, Busio, Caviglia, Ellertsson, Haps; Yeboah, Gytkjaer
Unavailable: Svoboda (Injured), Crnigoj (Injured)
Questionable: Sagrado (Injured), Kike Perez (Injured)
Fiorentina Team News: Zaniolo suspended
In a 1-0 defeat to Roma at the Stadio Olimpico last weekend, former Aston Villa loanee Nicolo Zaniolo was sent off late on and he is now missing through suspension. They also have some key doubts, too, such as Dodo and Daniel Cataldi.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): David de Gea; Comuzzo, Pablo Mari, Pongracic; Parisi, Richardson, Mandragora, Ndour, Gosens; Kean, Gudmundsson
Unavailable: Zaniolo (Suspended), Bove (Illness)
Questionable: Dodo (Illness), Cataldi (Injured)
Venezia vs Fiorentina Prediction
Venezia, as mentioned, are trying to become more defensive but they are still lacking victories and any sort of quality or cutting edge in the final third despite their continually improving performances. They now face a Fiorentina side that simply have to immediately bounce back to ensure European qualification once again. Fiorentina would have to be viewed as favourites for this one in what is expected to be a low-scoring affair in Venice.
Venezia vs Fiorentina Tip: Fiorentina to win & under 3.5 goals
