Velez Sarsfield vs Racing Club prediction

Velez Sarsfield overcame Brazilian opponents Fortaleza 2-0 on aggregate in the round of 16, and they find themselves in the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores for only the second time in the last 13 years.

The Argentine side won their 11th domestic league title last season, and first since 2013, while they currently lie third in Zone B of the second phase in this year’s competition.

Unbeaten in their last seven games across all competitions, that run includes a recent Argentine Super Cup triumph courtesy of a 2-0 win over Central Cordoba.

Racing Club aren’t faring as well right now, as they currently sit 14th out of 15 teams in Zone A and have picked up just seven points from their eight games in the second phase.

Racing edged past Paraguayan outfit Libertad on penalties in the round of 16 of this competition, but they are likely to come up short here against their fellow Argentine side.

This first leg is likely to go the way of the hosts, who are in much the better form.
