Most recently though, it was Trinidad and Tobago who were victorious, beating USA 2-1 back in a November 2023 friendly match. Much has changed since then, with USA now under the command of Mauricio Pochettino and desperately to build up some much-needed momentum with the World Cup now only a year away.
It's been a nightmare start to life in charge of the USMNT for Pochettino and the thought of them beginning this Gold Cup campaign with defeat is unthinkable from their perspective.
