USA vs Sweden prediction

You could argue that Sweden underperformed somewhat in the preliminary round when considering the players within their roster and a 4-1 defeat against Finland was enough to see them finish Group B in third-place despite winning two games. This led to a qualification play-off vs Latvia, which they won comfortably and sets up this mouth-watering clash with USA, who went through the preliminary round undefeated, scoring 16 goals in the process and a minimum of five per game.

This is a very dangerous fixture for USA in a battle between two teams packed with NHL players. At this stage back in Beijing 2022, Sweden defeated Canada whilst USA lost to Slovakia in a shootout, underlining the dramatic nature of knockout hockey. Almost a year to the day last year, Sweden beat USA 2-1 in the inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off which featured many of the NHL stars set to be involved here.

In what should be a close encounter, the goalies will be critical on both sides and scoring against these two backlines is not going to be easy. When taking this into account, it’s well worth backing under 5.5 total goals with the two teams likely not to take any big risks that could see them caught out, at least initially. Especially with the outcome capable of going either way.

USA vs Sweden tip: USA to win with -2.5 handicap
