USA team news: Finding a formula

Mauricio Pochettino has been unable to name a full-strength team ahead of this tournament, with the likes of Christian Pulisic being rested. They have no injury issues within the squad that was selected, though.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Freese; Freeman, Richards, Rea, Arfsten; Adams, De La Torre; Berhalter, Tillman, Luna; Agyemang

Guatemala team news: No need to change

With no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues, there would appear very little reason for Guatemala to name any changes in their side this week, especially with how well they have done to reach this stage. Goalkeeper Nicholas Hagen is injured, though.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Kenderson Navarro; Herrera, Jose Carlos Pinto, Nicolas Samayoa, Jose Morales; Stheven Robles, Jose Rosales, Rudy Munoz; Olger Escobar, Rubin, Oscar Santis

Unavailable: Hagen (Injured)

USA vs Guatemala prediction

Mauricio Pochettino has endured a difficult time of it to kick off his time in charge of the United States, but they have been much-improved in this tournament thus far. The Stars and Stripes won three out of three in the group stages before they then defeated Costa Rica in the quarter-finals on penalties.

Guatemala have recovered from some disappointment in FIFA World Cup qualification, but they have been much-improved in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. They surprisingly finished above Jamaica in the groups and they then produced a major upset to defeat one of the tournament favourites, Canada, on penalties.

The USMNT weren’t convincing the other day, but Costa Rica represents a tougher game than Guatemala, and they should progress into the final, especially at home.
