USA team news: The formula

There are no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues for the United States to deal with ahead of their clash with Costa Rica. They will likely try and keep as similar side as possible as to what has been the case of late in order to keep their momentum.

Costa Rica team news: Fully fit

Much like the USMNT, Costa Rica themselves also have a fully fit and available squad with no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues. That means they will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this one.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Keylor Navas; Jeyland Mitchell, Juan Pablo Vargas, Francisco Calvo; Carlos Mora, Brandon Aguilera, Orlando Galo, Josimar Alcocer, Joseph Mora; Alonso Martinez, Manfred Ugalde

USA vs Costa Rica prediction

Ever since the appointment of former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino, the United States have been fairly underwhelming. However, the Stars and Stripes have shown some improvement in the CONCACAF Gold Cup group stages, collecting nine points from their three games.

They now face a Costa Rica side that remained unbeaten with two victories and a draw in their three Group A matches. The Central Americans defeated Suriname and then the Dominican Republic, albeit fairly unconvincingly, before a goalless draw with Mexico in their final game last week.

Costa Rica have an impressive defence but the USMNT, with a newfound confidence and home advantage, would have to be viewed as firm favourites to make the semis.
