Royale Union Saint-Gilloise still have a chance of making it into the top 24 and the knockout playoff round, as they welcome an improved Atalanta side to Brussels.

Union SG preview: Still pushing

Royale Union Saint-Gilloise have managed two victories with five defeats in their seven league phase matches in this season’s UEFA Champions League. The Belgians won their opening game against PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands.

However, since then, Union SG lost manager Sebastien Pocognoli to Monaco in October. The Belgian champions remain at the top-of-the-table in the Jupiler Pro League but appear destined to miss out on a top 24 spot.

Atalanta preview: Improved Bergamasci

Following the appointment of Raffaele Palladino, who replaced the shortlived job of Ivan Juric, Atalanta have been improved and they are one of eight teams sat level on 13 points, seeking a top eight spot.

The Bergamasci come into this one on the back of an impressive 4-0 demolition of Parma at the Gewiss Stadium the other day, courtesy of strikes from Gianluca Scamacca, Marten de Roon, Giacomo Raspadori and Nikola Krstovic.

Union SG team news: Promise David suspended

Union SG are without key attacker Promise David for this one due to suspension, while fellow attacker, Ecuador international Kevin Rodriguez, is sidelined due to injury.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Scherpen; Mac Allister, Burgess, Sykes; Khalaily, Zorgane, Van de Perre, Ait El Hadj; Smith, Fuseini, Florucz

Unavailable: Biondic (Ineligible), Sylla (Ineligible), Zeneli (Ineligible), Promise (Suspended), Rodriguez (Injured)

Questionable:

Atalanta team news: Wing-back injuries

Atalanta have a couple of key injuries at wing-back as they make the trip to Belgium, with both Mitchel Bakker and Raoul Bellanova the only confirmed absentees.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Carnesecchi; Kossounou, Djimsiti, Kolasinac; Zappacosta, De Roon, Ederson, Bernasconi; De Ketelaere, Zalewski; Scamacca

Unavailable: Bakker (Injured), Bellanova (Injured), Panada (Ineligible), Raspadori (Ineligible)

Questionable:

Union SG vs Atalanta prediction

Atalanta will be immensely frustrated because their victory against Athletic Club last week would have more or less assured them of a top eight finish, but they instead succumbed to a 3-2 loss to the Basque giants. Union SG are a proactive side and will have to put their foot down here to push for the top 24 and so this could be quite a fun watch for the neutral in which a high-scoring encounter appears likely.

Union SG vs Atalanta Tip: Over 2.5 goals
