Whilst Anderlecht may have won this competition nine times previously, you have to go back to the 2007-28 campaign for the last time they tasted success in it. They suffered heartbreak in the final last season at the hands of Club Brugge and are desperately trying to avoid a repeat of that. Meanwhile, Union Saint-Gilloise were victorious against Antwerp in the 2023-24 final, the first time they had won the Belgian Cup in 110 years.
Union SG have been by far the better side compared to Anderlecht over the course of the regular season. However, this doesn’t mean as much when it comes to a cup final and you can be sure that Jeremy Tavarel’s men will bring their best. It would be a surprise if we didn’t see a close encounter with perhaps a margin of just one goal, as was the case in each of the last two finals. But in the end, backing Union SG is the smart move to make.
