Union Berlin preview: Freiburg stalemate
Union Berlin and Freiburg could not be separated last time out in the Bundesliga, with the two clubs labouring to a draw 0-0 draw. Whilst Union currently do sit inside the top half of the table as it stands, they have won just three of nine league matches so far this season, drawing two and losing four.
Scoring goals has clearly been an issue with 11 to their name thus far. Aside from Hamburg and the current bottom four, no team has managed to score less goals than that in the Bundesliga this campaign, so it’s clear to see where they need to improve.
Bayern Munich preview: History made
No team in Europe’s top five leagues has ever started the season having won 16 straight games in all competitions. Until now of course, after Bayern Munich’s memorable 1-2 triumph away to current Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes. Luis Diaz’s first-half brace did the damage, although the Colombian was sent off later in the game.
Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was vital for the Rekordmeister in Paris and will be hoping to help maintain Bayern’s incredible defensive record this season which has seen them concede just four league goals all season. That’s an average of less than half a goal per game.
Union Berlin team news: Trimmel banned
Club captain Christopher Trimmel misses out through suspension and Robert Skov is still yet to return from a calf injury. Aside from those two, Steffen Baumgart should have a fully fit squad to choose from.
Predicted XI: (3-5-2): Ronnow; Doekhi, Querfeld, Leite; Juranovic, Khedira, Kemlein, Schafer, Kohn; Skarke, Ilic
Unavailable: Skov (Injured), Trimmel (Suspended)

Bayern Munich team news: No returning players
Luis Diaz’s red card and subsequent suspension should ensure that he starts for the foreseeable future in the Bundesliga. The temptation to rest the likes of Kane and Olise once again will be high, but expect the pair to start.
Predicted XI: (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Boey, Kim, Tah, Bischof; Kimmich, Goretzka; Olise, Gnabry, Diaz; Kane
Unavailable: Davies (Injured), Guerreiro (Injured), Ito (Injured), Mike (International duty), Musiala (Injured)

Union Berlin vs Bayern Munich prediction
If there’s one thing last weekend proved, it’s that it doesn’t matter what XI Vincent Kompany opts to field on any given weekend, you are getting a stacked line-up packed with brilliant players whether they be proven world class, or exciting young talent. It’s a squad who has dispatched anyone that stands in their way and 16 wins from 16 is testament to that.
With Bayern Munich in this sort of form and just not lowering their standards, Union Berlin feel like lambs to the slaughter. But after a gruelling assignment in Paris, Bayern may not be at their sharpest and Kompany will need to make sure he gets his team selection and substitutions right. However, come the end of play normal service is expected to have continued with Bayern winning out by at least two clear goals.
