Udinese will fancy their chances at being able to bloody the nose of the current league leaders Internazionale, as the Nerazzurri make the trip to Friuli this weekend.

Udinese preview: Often entertaining

Under the management of former Legia Warsaw boss Kosta Runjaic, Udinese have been entertaining to watch throughout his tenure but they have often followed a pattern of beginning seasons, and even games, well, before then fading.

The Friulians do begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the top-half of the table but their form has dipped with a 2-2 draw against Pisa last weekend meaning that they have now managed just one win in their last five games in Serie A.

Inter Milan preview: Inter at the top

Internazionale sit at the top-of-the-table under the management of former Parma boss Cristian Chivu. The Nerazzurri have struggled to get over the line in so-called ‘big games’ but have been excellent against the rest.

They come into this one on the back of grinding out another potentially pivotal victory as they defeated Lecce by a goal to nil at San Siro in midweek, courtesy of a 78th minute winner scored by Francesco Pio Esposito.

Udinese team news: Bayo should return

Vakoun Bayo has returned from international duty with the Ivory Coast at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations, but former Aston Villa loanee Nicolo Zaniolo is now missing through suspension.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Okoye; Bertola, Kabasele, Solet; Zanoli, Ekkelenkamp, Karlstrom, Miller, Kamara; Bayo, Davis

Unavailable: Zaniolo (Suspended)

Questionable: Buksa (Injured)

Inter Milan team news: No Calhanoglu

Key midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu suffered a calf injury against Napoli last weekend and so he remains sidelined for the time being alongside wing-back Denzel Dumfries.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, Akanji, Bastoni; Luis Henrique, Zielinski, Sucic, Barella, Dimarco; Lautaro Martinez, Thuram

Unavailable: Di Gennaro (Injured), Palacios (Injured), Dumfries (Injured), Calhanoglu (Injured)

Questionable: Josep Martinez (Injured)

Udinese vs Inter Milan prediction

With their home advantage, Udinese will fancy themselves to push high and get at what remains an ageing Inter side. Inter, though, had a point to prove this season and, against the rest of Serie A outside of the bigger teams, they have flexed their muscles quite regularly. Udinese should be backed to score here, especially with the return of Vakoun Bayo, but Inter are firm favourites for this one at the Bluenergy Stadium.
