Udinese Preview: Improvement for Udinese

Last season, Udinese managed to avoid relegation on the final day of the season and the Pozzo family have appeared keen to ensure something like that doesn’t happen again by turning their attention away from Watford and back on to the Friulians.

The home team sit comfortably tucked in the middle-of-the-table after the appointment of Legia Warsaw boss Kosta Runjaic but they have endured a miserable run of form of late due to being ‘on the beach’, most recently losing 2-0 to Torino in Piedmont in midweek.

Bologna Preview: Bologna’s brilliance

Bologna have been brilliant this season and that has been a major surprise after they lost manager Thiago Motta as well as a few key players such as Riccardo Calafiori and Joshua Zirkzee last summer. They are competing in both Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

Vincenzo Italiano’s Emilio-Romagna-based outfit begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting tucked inside the top four and the UEFA Champions League spots after beating Internazionale last weekend before moving into the final of the Coppa Italia in midweek.

Udinese Team News: Bijol suspended

Udinese defender Jaka Bijol is unavailable for the hosts this weekend as he is missing through suspension, whilst the likes of Isaak Toure and Lorenzo Lucca are both sidelined alongside former AFC Bournemouth defender Jordan Zemura.

Predicted XI (4-4-1-1): Okoye; Ehizibue, Kabasele, Solet, Kamara; Atta, Lovric, Karlstrom, Ekkelenkamp; Payero; Iker Bravo

Unavailable: Bijol (Suspended), Toure (Injured), Zemura (Injured), Lucca (Injured)

Questionable: Thauvin (Injured)

Bologna Team News: Several doubts

Bologna are dealing with several doubts ahead of the trip to Udine this weekend as Poland international goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski is potentially sidelined alongside the likes of on-loan Davide Calabria and Scotland international midfielder Lewis Ferguson.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Ravaglia; Erlic, Beukema, Jhon Lucumi, Juan Miranda; Freuler, Aebischer; Ndoye, Odgaard, Dominguez; Dallinga

Unavailable:

Questionable: Skorupski (Injured), Casale (Injured), Calabria (Injured), Holm (Injured), Ferguson (Injured)

Udinese vs Bologna Prediction

Udinese had been entertaining to watch until the second-half of this season when they began to grind out results and they managed to get themselves enough results to achieve safety quite early on but that has led to a terrible run of form whereby they have now suffered five successive Serie A defeats. Bologna backed up that aforementioned last-gasp defeat of Inter last weekend by completing a 5-1 aggregate victory over Empoli in the cup and they were also able to rotate. Bologna may well be feeling it physically now but they remain favourites for this one.

Udinese vs Bologna Tip: Double chance – Bologna to win or draw
