These are two sides that could well be fighting against the drop this season as Tranmere Rovers welcome Shrewsbury Town up to Prenton Park in Birkhenhead this weekend.

Tranmere vs Shrewsbury prediction

Tranmere Rovers eventually avoided the drop last year after being pushed a bit by Mark Hughes’ Carlisle United. The Merseysiders look likely to struggle once again, as they come into this one on the back of a respectable 1-1 draw with Colchester United, though, in a game in which they conceded a late equaliser via Kyreece Lisbie.

Shrewsbury Town suffered relegation from League One last season, and they appear to be a team that are unlikely to be able to immediately challenge for an immediate return to League One. It simply seems as though the style of Michael Appleton doesn’t match up with the agricultural personnel within the Salop squad.

Shrewsbury began with a goalless draw at home to Bromley, and it does seem as though both sides are going to struggle to score throughout this campaign.

Tranmere vs Shrewsbury tip: Under 2.5 goals
