Toulouse have been easy on the eye throughout this season as they now push towards the top end of the table ahead of taking on UEFA Champions League chasing Lille this weekend.

Toulouse Preview: Easy on the eye Toulouse

Carlos Martinez Novell is in charge of a Toulouse side that have occasionally flirted with the notion of potentially making a mid-to-late-season run towards the European spots but, the reality is that they are simply just a firmly mid-table side this season, once again.

The hosts have been entertaining of late, though, and that continued at the Stade Veldrome last weekend as they were beaten 3-2 by Olympique de Marseille in a topsy turvy game that saw both Frank Magri and Vincent Sierro score for Toulouse.

Lille Preview: European push for Lille

Following the departure of Paulo Fonseca to AC Milan last summer, it has been more or less more of the same for Lille this time around with former Olympique Lyonnais and Stade Rennais coach Bruno Genesio producing similar performances and results.

The northerners begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just outside of the top six and the European spots, though, after a very average and inconsistent couple of months that continued last weekend with a 2-1 defeat away to Fonseca’s new club, Lyon.

Toulouse Team News: Couple of injuries

Toulouse are dealing with a couple of injury issues for this weekend with those such as Rasmus Nicolaisen and Niklas Schmidt unavailable for this one, whilst attacking midfielder Zakaria Aboukhlal is a doubt, too.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Restes; Sidibe, Cresswell, McKenzie; Donnum, Cristian Casseres Jr, Sierro, Suazo; Babicka, Gboho; Magri

Unavailable: Nicolaisen (Injured), Schmidt (Injured)

Questionable: Aboukhlal (Injured)

Lille Team News: A few doubts

Lille are dealing with a few injuries ahead of the trip to Stadium de Toulouse this weekend as key men such as Angel Gomes and Edon Zhegrova are doubtful. Tiago Santos is sidelined due to a knee injury.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Chevalier; Meunier, Diakite, Alexsandro, Gudmundsson; Andre, And. Gomes; Bakker, Sahraoui, Haraldsson; David

Unavailable: Santos (Injured)

Questionable: Umtiti (Injured), Ang. Gomes (Injured), Mbappe (Injured), Zhegrova (Injured), Mukau (Injured)

Toulouse vs Lille Prediction

Toulouse have now enjoyed three successive defeats in Ligue 1 either side of the March international break. The hosts have been good to watch for a neutral of late, though, with their last six matches consisting of 25 goals. They now face a Lille side that will head to Toulouse with a point to prove themselves and the reason perhaps for their lack of consistency of late has been an openness and a lack of control in possession that wasn’t there in the past. As a result of those factors, both teams scoring may well be a good bet for this one.

Toulouse vs Lille Tip: Both teams to score
