Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are a ridiculous watch with bizarre form with the north Londoners now welcoming one-time Spurs target Arne Slot and his league leading Liverpool.

Kick-off date/time: Sunday 22nd December, 2024: UK – 4:30pm / US ET – 11:30am / US PT – 8:30am

How to watch on TV: UK – Sky Sports / US – USA Network

How to watch online: UK – Sky Go / US – Telemundo

Tottenham Preview: Trophies are the priority

Tottenham Hotspur haven’t won a trophy since winning the 2008 League Cup but Ange Postecoglou has discussed the fact he always wins a trophy in his second season and with UEFA Europa League progress a priority, Spurs have also got to the semi-finals in the EFL Cup.

They were hammering Manchester United by three goals to nil in midweek before a brace of Fraser Forster blunders made it 3-2 but Spurs eventually progressed with a thrilling 4-3 win. That type of game is just a very good example of exactly how Spurs and Ange play their football.

Liverpool Preview: Reds want a response

Arne Slot’s Liverpool are, in contrast, very controlled as they remain at the top-of-the-table ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures but a postponement of the Merseyside Derby a fortnight ago and a draw with Fulham last weekend has closed the gap to two points.

The Reds went behind twice at Anfield against the Cottagers last weekend before rescuing a 2-2 draw despite being down to ten men for the majority of the game. They will brush themselves down and go again with the possibility of being knocked off top spot before Christmas alive.

Tottenham Team News: Full-back choices

Djed Spence came into the Spurs eleven for their demolition of Southampton and played very well so has made his case to start this weekend, too. Postecoglou has said that left-back Destiny Udogie ‘should be ok’ to start for this one.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Forster; Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Udogie; Kulusevski, Sarr, Maddison; Johnson, Solanke, Son

Unavailable: Vicario (Injured), Romero (Injured), Van de Ven (Injured), Davies (Injured), Bentancur (Suspended), Richarlison (Injured), Odobert (Injured), Moore (Illness)

Questionable: Udogie (Injured), Werner (Illness)

Liverpool Team News: Robertson returns

Following his red card against Fulham last weekend, Andrew Robertson was fortunate with timing to serve his suspension against Southampton in midweek. Fellow defenders Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley remain sidelined through injury, though.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Jones; Salah, Gakpo, Diaz

Unavailable: Konate (Injured), Bradley (Injured)

Questionable:

Tottenham vs Liverpool Prediction

In their 25 matches across all competitions so far this season for Tottenham, there has been a combined total of 86 goals with both teams scoring in 16 of those games. They now face a Liverpool side that have been a little unconvincing since their famous week of wins against Manchester City and Real Madrid earlier this month with back-to-back 2-2 draws in this league against Fulham and Newcastle United. As a result, a high-scoring affair would appear quite likely for this one at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham vs Liverpool Tip: Over 2.5 goals
