Thibault Tricole vs Motomu Sakai prediction

Thubault Tricole is aiming to secure a place in round two of the World Darts Championship for the third straight year. Aside from a notable win over Michael Smith, the Frenchman has never troubled the top table of darts but in the early rounds of tournaments can prove a significant challenge, as proven by his first-round record at Ally Pally.

Motomu Sakai finished top five in the PDC Asian Tour this year, but as is always the case with players like him, it remains to be seen as to whether that can be translated into major televised events involving the world’s best players. But the Japanese star will certainly see this game as winnable.

Tricole’s superior experience at Ally Pally and winning on this stage twice before gives him somewhat of an advantage. But Sakai is a dangerous operator and not to be underestimated. The pressure should not overwhelm him and it would be no surprise to see him pick up at least one set. Back over 3.5 total sets in this one.
