THE PREDICTION

23-year-old Geoffrey Blancaneaux will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 191st after qualifying for the main draw at the French Open, doing it the hard way whilst so many of his peers received wildcards. The Frenchman is making his Roland-Garros debut having made his Grand Slam debut back in 2017 at the US Open in a heavy loss to Yuichi Sugita and this will be the most important match of his young career against world number 55 Marton Fucsovics, who has failed to qualify for his two most recent clay-court tournaments. The 30-year-old did win his only ATP title on clay back in 2018 at the Geneva Open and he has grabbed three creditable wins on the surface in recent weeks but there is the slightest scent of an upset here. Back the Hungarian to win at least two sets as the likelier winner here but leave this one out of an accumulator after he pulled out of his most recent match in the Rome qualifiers.
