THE PREDICTION

World number 59 Mackenzie McDonald has managed just one win on clay so far this swing on what is generally his least effective surface. However, the 27-year-old enjoys the longer format of five sets at Grand Slams with several memorable battles over the years at majors, most recently second-round five and four-set defeats to Kei Nishikori and Aslan Karatsev at the US Open and Australian Open, and he has made it to the second round in each of his last two appearances in Paris. McDonald faces a tough opener here, though, against lucky loser Franco Agamenone. The world number 155 is making his tour debut at 29 years old here and he will be a tough man to break down on an occasion he may well have thought might never happen in his career. McDonald should find a way through to the second round but backing Agamenone to snatch at least a set could be a useful one-off here.
