World number 121 and Korean number one Soonwoo Kwon overcame his compatriot Chung Yun-seong in three sets on Tuesday to survive an early scare in Seoul. The 24-year-old stunned Felix Auger-Aliassime at the Davis Cup two weeks ago to give South Korea a huge boost in the group stages but defeats to Carlos Alcaraz and Miomir Kecmanovic saw them miss out on the Finals later this year. World number 46 Jenson Brooksby recently enjoyed a run to the third round of the US Open before a three-set defeat to Alcaraz, who went on to win the Grand Slam title in New York and become world number one. Since then Brooksby has struggled to put away foes on tour, with a three-set victory over qualifier Wu Tung-lin nowhere near his best level. Brooksby should be coming through this match-up in straight sets on a good day but Kwon is the home hopeful here in Seoul and three sets seem likelier than two.
