CASPER RUUD VS GAEL MONFILS PREDICTION

2022 runner-up Casper Ruud eased into the second round with a comfortable straight-sets win over Bu Yunchaokete and he will relish this clash with Gael Monfils on the Grandstand Court.

Monfils had an interesting first round match against Diego Schwartzmann who won the first set in a tiebreak but then the Frenchman lost only five games as he romped the next three sets in style.

The 37-year-old Parisien will be fired up to cause an upset here and he can take heart from his incredible performance in Cincinnati where he stunned Carlos Alcaraz.

This may be a little different however. Over the best of five sets and against Ruud who is playing good tennis, it will be a tough assignment for Monfils. They have split their previous meetings one apiece. That said, it is Ruud who won the last meeting that came at Indian Wells earlier this year, and we expect him to win this match even if there is every chance Monfils take a set or two off him.
