BRANDON NAKASHIMA VS LORENZO MUSETTI PREDICTION

Brandon Nakashima has been on fire in the opening two rounds at the US Open and he will be full of confidence right now. He has beaten both Holger Rune and Arthur Cazaux in straight sets and the Californian 23-year-old will have belief he can go far this year.

He now faces Italian Lorenzo Musetti who he has met once before. That came a few months ago at Queen’s where Musetti won 6-4 4-6 6-4 in a close-fought match.

Musetti has had a tougher time of it as he has faced some quality opponents so far in Reilly Opelka and Miomir Kecmanovic. He won those two matches in four and five sets respectively and it will be interesting to see how he is physically after the lengthy match in the second round two days ago.

Musetti is enjoying a great year and he’s showing he is just as adept on hard courts as he is on clay and grass. We are expecting one of the best versions of Nakashima however and he will be buoyed with home support. This is a really tough match to select a winner from and really could go either way. For that reason, we edge the value on the underdog Musetti. Our play here however is on over 3.5 sets.
