World number 59 Aliaksandra Sanovich clearly enjoys her tennis at Indian Wells, with her run to the round of 16 last October still fresh in the memory. The 27-year-old was in control against in-form Camila Osorio on Thursday before the Colombian retired from the second set. Sasnovich finished runner-up to Amanda Anisimova at Melbourne 2 at the start of the season.
PETRA KVITOVA
Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova was forced to retire from her last match at the Qatar Open last month as she continues to struggle with injuries. The 32-year-old has four Masters titles amongst her 18 career WTA titles but it has now been over a year since her last came at the Qatar Open last season, back when it was a WTA 500 event.
THE PREDICTION
Sanovich and Kvitova share an intriguing head-to-head record at 1-1, with the Belarussian winning their first meeting in a shock victory at Wimbledon in 2018 before Kvitova returned the favour at the Sydney International a year later. It is wise to leave Kvitova’s match out of accumulators for the foreseeable future as the former world number two continues to struggle with form and fitness.
