Sydney Roosters team news

Tom Rodwell has been picked on the wing and will make his first grade debut, with Mark Nawaqanitawase shifting to the centres in place of Robert Toia, who is on State of Origin duty with the Maroons. In 14 games for the Tricolours’ reserve grade side, Rodwell has scored 15 tries, knocking the door down for a call-up.  Max McCathie has also been named in the 17 for his first NRL game after making his NSW Cup debut in 2024. The Roosters will be without a host of other Origin stars, including Angus Crichton, Connor Watson, Lindsay Collins and Spencer Leniu. That means Makahesi Makatoa, Benaiah Ioelu and Blake Steep are all named in the starting line-up, with Egan Butcher coming back after suffering a concussion. He slots into the team in place of Siua Wong, who has a knee injury.

Sydney Roosters vs Wests Tigers prediction

The Roosters (6th) are coming off a Round 17 bye, but prior to the break, they had started to build momentum, winning three of their last four matches. This run included an impressive 42-8 demolition of the North Queensland Cowboys in Round 16.

The Wests Tigers (14th) deep form slump continues, they are currently on a six-game losing streak that has seen their season unravel. This includes a 28-10 defeat to Manly in Round 17.

Mark Nawaqanitawase has been a reliable finisher for the Tricolours, topping their try-scoring chart with 11 for the season

Terrell May has been a standout in a beaten Tigers pack, leading the team's defensive efforts with a colossal 648 out of 660 tackles this season while leading the team in post contact metres also.

The Roosters have dominated the Wests Tigers, winning 30 of their 39 encounters. Their record at Allianz Stadium is even more imposing, with 14 wins from 17 meetings. The Roosters are currently on a 10-match winning streak against the Tigers and we don’t see the streak ending this week.
