Strasbourg will be focused on Europe as they return to Ligue 1 action with the visit of a fading Toulouse side to Stade de la Meinau in the Alsace region on Sunday afternoon.

Strasbourg preview: Focus on the UECL

The preparation for this one for Strasbourg has been dominated by their UEFA Europa Conference League semi-final tie against Rayo Vallecano. The first-leg of that clash saw them lose by a goal to nil in Spain and that second leg will no doubt be in the back of their minds, despite the distraction of this match.

Ever since the appointment of Gary O’Neil in mid-January, Strasbourg have been focused on the cups, with a recent Coupe de France semi-final defeat to Nice, but they are enjoying some reasonable form as they push for the top seven in Ligue 1.

Toulouse preview: Faded visitors

Carlos Martinez Novell and his Toulouse side head into this one on the back of a 2-2 draw with Monaco at Stadium de Toulouse, fighting back from going 2-0 down early on with a late equaliser scored by versatile attacker Emersonn.

The visitors had succumbed to three successive defeats in Ligue 1 prior to that much-needed respite, but the draw does mean that they have still managed just two victories inside 90 minutes in their last 13 matches across all competitions.

Strasbourg team news: Some key absentees

The absences of Aaron Anselmino and Valentin Barco in particular are big ones for Strasbourg, who are also missing both Amougou and Panichelli for this game.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Penders; Ouattara, Doukoure, Hogsberg, Chilwell; Oyedele, El Mourabet; Moreira, Enciso, Godo; Emegha

Unavailable: Anselmino (Injured), Amougou (Injured), Barco (Injured), Panichelli (Injured)

Questionable:

Toulouse team news: Nothing fresh

Rafik Messali is on the verge of returning from an ankle injury, while midfielder Abu Francis remains a confirmed absentee for the visitors alongside Cameroon international striker Frank Magri.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Restes; McKenzie, Cresswell, Nicolaisen; Vossah, Diop, Casseres Jr, Methalie; Emersonn, Hidalgo; Russell-Rowe

Unavailable: Francis (Injured), Magri (Injured)

Questionable: Messali (Fitness)

Strasbourg vs Toulouse prediction

Strasbourg have now enjoyed three victories in their last four matches in the league after their recent entertaining 3-2 victory away at Lorient in a game in which they went into second-half stoppage-time 2-1 down, with former Norwich City centre-back Andrew Omobamidele scoring a last-gasp winner. Strasbourg will likely rotate here, though. Toulouse aren’t necessarily a side that can be trusted to be backed to win but they should at least punish a potentially and probably distracted home team with both teams scoring, therefore, seeming a decent bet for this one.

Strasbourg vs Toulouse tip: Both teams to score
