Stockport vs Bolton prediction

Dave Challinor’s stint in charge of Stockport County has been an extremely impressive one as they have risen from the National League to the top end of League One. The Hatters finished third last season but eventually suffered a penalty shootout defeat to Leyton Orient in the play-off semi-finals.

Bolton Wanderers were play-off finalists in 2024 but completely collapsed last year to a mid-table finish, with Steven Schumacher replacing Ian Evatt mid-way through the campaign. The Trotters have rebuilt majorly over the summer and will be expecting to, once again, go again and challenge for promotion.

Stockport hammered Bolton 5-0 in this fixture last year. They remain favourites, but there is an expectation that Wanderers will at least have grown a backbone since then.
